What is botox?
Botulinum Toxin it is a neuroprotein produced by the bacteria Clostridium Botulinum. Of the different types produced, only type A is used in aesthetic.
What's botox for?
It decreases the action of the muscle where is injected once it stops nerve transmissions to the muscles. In esthetics it is utilized to weaken the muscles of the face which cause wrinkles.
Its application is often applied in cases of hypertrophy of the mastication muscles (cases of bruxism) as a way to decrease the action of the parafunctional habit of grinding teeth, by causing muscles to be more relaxed.
It is important to refer that this treatment is no definitive and lasts for 6 months, after which, an evaluation should be done for the necessity of a new application.
